Characteristics of Fused Zirconia

The production of fused zirconia includes reacting zircon at 2,800 degrees Celsius in an electric arc heater to form molten zirconia & silica. The silica is driven off and composed separately as silica fume, while the zirconia is designed into a coarse granular material.

Fused zirconia ranges

The fused Zirconia is graded, crumpled, sized, and available in purities up to 99 wt.% ZrO2. All grades are obtainable in either milled or unfilled sizes depending on customer requirements. Standard unfilled sizes are < 0.5mm or < 10 mm while milled sizes are 6um, and 3um. Custom sizes are also obtainable upon request. A range of low uranium & thorium which is <500ppm combined products are also produced.

Characters of our Fused zirconia

Our Fused zirconia is monoclinic in shape with distinctive characteristics such as:

Good mechanical properties & stability at higher temperatures

Greater thermal resistance & corrosion resistance

Consistency of the physical & chemical characteristics

Higher chemical inertness

Applications of Fused zirconia

Fused Zirconia has many exclusive and complex properties which make it appropriate for a variety of different higher-end refractory and abrasive applications.

Fused Zirconia is also used in the subsequent industries and areas:

Refractories that are used in the production of steel & glass products

Manufacture of heat-resistant materials and shapes

Fused cast brick for the glass furnaces

In special Refractories like slide gates, long nozzles, and also crucibles

In Ceramic filters like foundry casting

In Ceramic colours & glazes

In Friction products in the auto industry like brake linings

In Zirconium Metals & Alloys

In Zirconium Sponge for structural parts in the Nuclear Industry

Fused Calcia Stabilized Zirconia is substantial for use in the manufacture of slide gate furnace lining used in the continuous casting of steel.
